If Ottex stops recording

When Camera control during meetings is enabled, Ottex shows a 60-second warning if its camera requirement is not met or camera use cannot be checked. Select Ottex Camera and turn video on before the countdown ends.

If the countdown has already ended, select and turn on Ottex Camera, then choose Resume meeting in the Ottex notification. Recording continues in the same meeting, preserving the part already recorded. If you dismissed the notification, open that meeting in Ottex and use its resume control.

Frequently asked questions

Why is Ottex Camera missing from the camera list?

Check that its extension is enabled in System Settings. After installing or updating, reopen the camera dropdown. If it is still missing, refresh the Meet tab or quit and reopen your meeting app when you can safely leave the call. Reopen Ottex if its own status has not refreshed.

Why is the camera unavailable after installation?

Installation and camera readiness are separate. Follow the recovery instructions in Ottex Settings → Experiments. Close other camera previews, then try selecting Ottex Camera again. If macOS requests a restart, save your work and restart your Mac.

Why does the warning continue after I select Ottex Camera?

Make sure video is actually on, not just that Ottex Camera is selected in settings. Allow a few seconds for Ottex to detect the change. If the warning says it cannot check the camera, open Settings → Experiments and follow the camera recovery instructions.

Why is the Ottex indicator blurred, hidden or cropped?

Background blur, virtual backgrounds and framing in the meeting app can alter the indicator. Disable those effects or adjust your framing so the bottom-center indicator remains visible. Ottex cannot draw over effects applied by another app.
