Voice Formatting

Ottex automatically formats your speech into clean, structured text.

All formatting features can be enabled or disabled in Settings → Voice to Text.

Automatic Lists

When you use numbered words (one, two, three) or ordinal words (first, second, third) to enumerate items, Ottex automatically formats them as a numbered list.

You say:

So I want to buy groceries for today first tomatoes second cucumbers, some grapes, some cherries, and for the meal it shall be turkey and lentils.

Ottex writes:

Groceries for today: 1. tomatoes 2. cucumbers 3. grapes 4. cherries 5. turkey 6. lentils

Spoken Punctuation

Say punctuation words out loud to insert symbols precisely where you want them.

"comma" → ,
"period" → .
"question mark" → ?
"exclamation point" → !
"colon" → :
"semicolon" → ;
"dash" →
"quote" → "
"open parenthesis" → (
"close parenthesis" → )
"h1" or "header one" → #
"bullet point" → -
You say:

I can't wait to see you exclamation point Let's meet at seven period

Ottex writes:

I can't wait to see you! Let's meet at 7.

New Lines & Paragraphs

Use trigger words to create line breaks and separate ideas cleanly.

  • "new line" — inserts a single line break
  • "new paragraph" — inserts two line breaks (new paragraph)
You say:

When is reading club new line should be tomorrow

Ottex writes:

When is reading club? Should be tomorrow.

Backtrack Corrections

Made a mistake? Say "actually" or "scratch that" followed by the correction, and Ottex will fix it for you.

You say:

Let's meet at 2 actually 3

Ottex writes:

Let's meet at 3

You say:

I'll bring cookies scratch that brownies

Ottex writes:

I'll bring brownies

Tip: Use "actually" or "scratch that" immediately after mistakes rather than restarting your entire dictation.

Alternate Corrections

When you naturally restate a phrase, Ottex recognizes it and uses your final version. This works even without trigger words.

You say:

I wanted to buy a record as a gift… as a present

Ottex writes:

I wanted to buy a record as a present.

This is useful when you change your mind mid-sentence or want to rephrase something more clearly.

Automatic Filler Removal

Ottex automatically removes filler words like "um", "uh", "like", and "so" from your transcription. You get clean, professional text without verbal hesitations.

You say:

So um I was thinking like maybe we could uh meet tomorrow

Ottex writes:

I was thinking maybe we could meet tomorrow
